"I don't want to be this good-looking and athletic". Yes, Spike + Buffy did steam my contact lenses up on more than one occasion! Mmmm, Spike....

@ADGS, do you not like the BtVS Season 8 comics?

I was only referring there to the book books, the various novels set in the interstices, which always seemed pretty pointless. Season 8...I don't know, even Whedon admitted at the end that there were a lot of bad calls made. I liked moments, but too much didn't feel like Buffy and the overall drive was all about sorting out a continuity problem that was bothering nobody but Joss! He said after that Season 9 would be more back-to-basics, but the one collection of that I read was even worse.
I'll be very put out if GRRM dies before finishing the series. In fact I've even considered kidnapping him and forcing him to finish. That said I reckon Joe Abercrombie could make a pretty good stab at finishing it.

Brandon Sanderson has two books out this month.Two. Take note, George.
Game of Thrones - I read the books as they came out but haven't see the TV series. It's difficult to remember where they are when talking to the TV only fans. "Rage of Thrones" says it all:
I did enjoy the Red Wedding reaction videos, particularly the ones which included someone reading the books and looking simultaneously smug and glum, while everyone else freaks out. Like this one:
Daniel Abraham is surely the obvious choice to finish it off - I believe he used to be Martin's assistant, he's finished a stalled Martin book off before, and he has shown he writes very good (and similarly brutal) epic fantasy, a field into which Gaiman has only made brief and generally oblique sallies.
@Arkaday Judging by those reactions I'm guessing HBO didn't hold back on the nastiness.

@ADGS I've not heard of Daniel Abraham. Would you recommend him? I'm a big fan of GRRM and Joe Abercrombie.
Yes, Chapter One closed a year ago. It was a fantastic bar with a party vibe , colourful decor and some of the best ppl in SG going in there. And Misscara was a frequent guest. Sadly it closed in murky circumstances and many of us have been waiting for Rockyband co to bring back this really great entertaing bar and social centre.

Ps the new Indian cafe is SO not Chapter One.
If he does, someone forgot to tell the authors of the Liaden Universe series!

11am-4pm today on Syfy, all this week's "Buffy" episodes!

Never heard of Liaden before, but I hope it's the same Steve Miller as the Steve Miller Band.

Daniel Abraham is great - his Long Price Quartet is the first thing I recommend when people tell me they've read GRRM and is any other modern fantasy good. His current series, The Dagger & the Coin, is probably closer to Song of Ice and Fire in tone, but still very good and by no means a rip-off. He also co-writes space opera with GRRM's assistant Ty Franck, under the name James Corey, and those are top fun too.

I quite look forward to Chang's posts. Each one is a little insight into a whole world of crazy I never knew existed.
Anyway I have added the first Long Price Quartet to my Goodreads - thanks @ADGS
