I like Liz's post about rubbish other places we've all lived, so...

@Liz – yes, I am. I lived in KL til I was eighteen. It’s a funny old place, isn’t it? What were you doing there for four years?

My mum and her partner of the time moved there when I was 14, so I did my GCSEs and A levels at Springwood. Lived on Springwood Estate for about 3 years then North Wootton for 1. You?

Is he the one on the left or the one on the right in that picture?

    *applauds* - that's proper papparazzing

    Nick Berry!

I've seen superhans too, in Crouch End, dressed like superhans. He must live locally.
  • edited 11:21PM
I don't even know who superhans is!

Peep show. It's quite apt as the opening sequence was filmed in CE, a long time ago when silly Italian megadeli was an old fashioned sort of Electricity Board. The bulk of the show was filmed in Croyers though I believe

And some of it was filmed in Woodys

@Liz - I went to KES but I used to go to Springwood to play in their orchestra every Tuesday after school. I was only young and wrote it on my calendar as “orgy”. I was so embarrassed when my mum told me what it meant. What years were you living in King’s Lynn? Did you ever sample the nightlife?

@ Tabbie - I'm starting to think we need to start a separate thread for this! It was 1989-93, roughly. If you were there at the same time, then we were probably in the orchestra together, as I was in Springwood Orchestra, Concert Band and WNJYO Orchestra. Scary small world. Nightlife mainly consisted of the Wens, or Knights Hill, and the odd visit to the cheesy clubs in town which I can't remember the names of. You?
  • edited 11:21PM
@Liz - I used to go to the orchestra from about 1989, so we must have been in it together. Do you remember Mr Woolley? He had a grey pony tail tied up with a velvet ribbon. I used to go to the Wenns too, from 1993 ish, and the crap nightclubs like Manhattens and Top of The World. Happy days.

Mr Woolley. He was a strange man. I played in his string ensemble too, which basically involved playing Pachalbel's Canon in as many Norfolk churches as possible. If you only started going to the Wenns in 1993 then you're probably younger than me (or didn't start drinking until you were 18, which would have been very restrained!).

Hey everyone....just wondering if anyone knows where James McAvoy lives. He has done interviews and says he loves living in the Stroud Green area..and people have seen him walking to do his shopping..but does anyone know for sure?
  • edited 11:21PM
    yes but not telling.
  • edited 11:21PM
How do you know he doesn't come on here.... possibly using a pseudonym... maybe something like "tosscat"?
  • edited 11:21PM
    OK - maybe not.

I'm also in the "leave the nice man alone" camp.
  • edited 11:21PM
Tosscat... James McAvoy! Hahaha! That's hilarious. And so, so unlikely.
  • edited 11:21PM
Blah blah blah, anyway Glyn, why were you up so early this morning?
  • edited 11:21PM
Work I'm afraid - just got back in too.

I'm a big fan, but I have to agree with Glyn on the 'leave the man be' front.

@ Glyn and tosscat: is this some 'who can be up the earliest' competition?

btw - I've met Glyn in the flesh as it were, and can confirm it's not him

Almost getting back onto the topic, I'm a bit worried about my own local celeb - the man who runs around Stroud Green early in the morning, waving his arms around and talking to himself.

Tosscat may know the chap as I think he lives nearby.

Apologies if he has his own thread, but I saw him just before Xmas with a great big cut above his eye and was very worried that he might have been duffed up by local urchins. Hope he's doing OK now.

'Opal eye' I call him after a special type of cat. [Opal eye](http://bp2.blogger.com/_UIIt_EkiqfA/Rgmu2_RIRvI/AAAAAAAAAlQ/Pvu25ruDLuY/s400/catwedding.jpg) I've certainly seen him since Xmas and he seemed much better - he speaks pretty fluent hindi you know. I like it when it gets lighter in the morning and he roams the streets singing as well.

Simon Pegg walking his dog past my flat on Sunday afternoon ... why go looking for Pegg when if you stay still, he comes to you!
  • edited 11:21PM
Thanks for the update Tosscat. Nice to hear he's still around. My own personal list of local celebs...

John Simm (loads until recently), Pegg (obviously), Dr Legg on W3, Liza Tarbuck in Londis (just visiting I guess), Vicky (her of the accent change on Eastenders - on Stapleton Hall Road), Grant Nicholas of the tedious Feeder (W3 and M&S), Dermot Murnaghan (looking very bored on Crouch Hill). Oh, and Caroline of Big Brother 1 also on W3... not really sure she counts to be honest, but there you go.
