  • I'm not getting any results from that planning reference?<br>
  • What news on the redevelopment of the restaurant/bar next to the Station House on Stapleton Hall Road?
  • edited August 2012
@ActionVerb: Thanks for that.  Is it still supposed to be temporary?  It will end up being something of an underdevelopment, given all the other local plans.<br><br>@gardner-joe: I don't think a decision has been made yet.  I was outvoted on the CAAC, who opposed it on the grounds that any development of the site should be a high-quality modern design.<br>
  • The Design and Access statement looks like its been done by a child.<br><br>Personal favourites are describes the area as having an adequate level of public transport and saying the building will be a "reference point for Finsbuty."<br><br>Horrible looking building, how many years is this proposed for?<br>

<div style="font-style: normal; ">I'm pretty sure that this is supposed to be a permanent and full redevelopment of the site, replacing the current uses (car wash, fruit/takeaway stall etc), which in theory are temporary. This might be my second ever objection to a planning application (the first one being extended hours for Red Rita, which is now The Fonthill). </div><div style="font-style: normal; "><br></div><div><div>My favourite line from the D&A is: <i>"The area lacks positive urban imagery for </i><span style="font-size: 10pt; "><i>emotional attachment"</i>, closely followed by <i>"</i></span><i><span style="font-size: 10pt; ">The proposal is </span><span style="font-size: 10pt; ">tempted into monolithism by the new long frontage opportunity presented by Stroud Green Road and Wells Terrace"</span></i></div></div>
  • The previous application described it as temporary, but this does look more ‘solid’. Curious, given the rumoured plans of the landowners to build towers on the site in the future, and the likelihood that a much higher (and more lucrative) scheme would probably get planning permission on this site. I might object too – any development here should have an arcade or cut-away on the corner to ease pedestrian flow.
  • Status is "<b>This Application has been deemed invalid".  </b>I'm hoping it was deemed invalid purely for the use of explosion star with the word 'Surprise" as part of the masterplan context.<br><b><br></b>As a temporary building it could be ok if given 10 years or something but as a permanent building no way.  <br>
  • @Arkady: Thanks. On this subject, I Googled and found this ... "New flats proposed for local Stroud Green landmark" http://www.richardwilson.me.uk/2012/08/27/new-flats-proposed-for-local-stroud-green-landmark/

  • I'll join any campaign against turning the Noble into an empty shop with some flats above.<br>

  • Not directly relevant, but I was reminded of it yesterday, it's been bugging me for years, and this is as good a place as any to ask - <div><br></div><div>Ferme Park Road, right at the top of the hill, there are about four houses with raised, concrete front gardens. Why? They're raised, so no use as parking, and they're remarkably bleak for an otherwise pretty area.</div>

  • Why on earth was SG designated a conservation area if the council won't stop applications like that one??
  • Why on earth was the development around the station allowed?  To turn it into another bland station area?
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • It won't be as big as Westfields but I'm so sad that certain property magnets hive off people with good intentions who wanted something better around the area.  I'd prefer sash windows everywhere than this development been given the red light.
  • New homes? New jobs? Regenerating a run down, low quality area? Hmmm, yeah, shocking decision Islington Council....
