<p>Ossultone hundreds</p><p> </p><p>Intreresting to see the Tollington name was in the record in 1086 and that the Ossultone hundreds were valued at 219 3/4 hides in 1086</p>
Croydon's a bit like Barnet isn't it, manages to be both in London and somewhere completely different.<div><br></div><div>I've never heard of Ossultone before but it's a great name - is it too late to get the new White Lion to change its name?</div>
Croydon is a town that has become absorbed by greater London. It's close enough and connected enough to feel more London than Surrey, but there's a big difference between zone 2 and zone 5 no doubt.
Regarding the postcode thing, croydon is as much London as wimbledon - sw19.
It does look smart, bit like what the Kings Head has become in Crouch End. <div><br></div><div>Good beer is all very well, but a lot of wine in Stroud Green is filthy stuff. I hope someone buys the Nicolas Nickleby soon. I don't even care about the carpet and manky sofas, as long as they fill it full of decent wine.</div><div><br></div><div>The Concept shop opposite the Dairy, could be a good wine shop. It's days must be numbered. </div>
@kittygal There's already quite a lot of live music in the area... Would be nice if they did music that's a cut above the rest though (but difficult to do for free admittedly)
There's a fair amount of craft cider around now, I hope there's more on offer than just Symonds!<div><br></div><div>Quite tempted to go on Thu - anyone seen a menu? Nothing on Twitter, just checked.</div>
I sent an email to book a table, but no reply. Has anyone else succeeded in making a booking, and how?<div><br></div><div>Edit: I see there are two email addresses floating around. One is <span style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: arial, sans-serif; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); font-size: 10pt;">contact@whitelionn4.com (no reply on that one) and the other is </span><span style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: arial, sans-serif; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); font-size: 10pt;">contact@thewhitelion.com. Anyone heard back on that one?</span></div>
