I had the roast at N19 this weekend and was very impressed. It has got better since I last tried one (about 6 months ago) and for £9.50 was a bargain. They also have lovely home-made desserts. I couldn't move for the rest of the afternoon.
I can also give N19 a hearty recommendation for both drinking and eating.
Tony and the rest of the staff are always very welcoming, remember my (very particular) drink and are happy to sort out opening the back garden even in deepest winter for…
While i'm not a fan of the big supermarkets moving in, it would be nice to have something other than Woodys in that spot. I won't shop there any more, having been over-charged, forced to pay more because of 'pricing mistakes' and finding phantom it…
As mentioned, the John Lewis website is great for showing you how to measure.
Ebay is a great place to buy curtains. There are loads of lovely vintage curtains on there, beautifully made and you can get them for a fraction of the cost of modern …
There is a place on Hornsey Road that makes shoes (at the bottom, near the DIY Centre). I would be very surprised if they were charging £900.
I have had shoes repaired there and they did a good job.
Dave from the sash window place at the top of Stroud Green Road did my windows a couple of years ago and did a fantastic job.
His mobile number is 07970 440006. I recommend getting the hidden draft strips fitted too.
I can also recommend Image on Fonthill Road. They have done various bits of tailoring for me (mainly vintage dresses) and while they are not cheap they do an excellent job (and now have a fitting area). As Liz said, they seem to do lots of suits a…
Slightly out of SG, but N19 can give you their back room (with nice private outdoor bit) or their bigger front room for private parties. They also do various food options from nibbles to full sit down meals. I had my birthday in the back bit and i…
Thanks. I'll give them a call to see if they can do what I have in mind.
I'm a big fan of pizza (and raw tomatoes), it's just when they are grilled and all squishy and taking up valuable space on my breakfast plate that they become evil. Does t…
N19 has tables out the front and a nice private drinking area out the back (with a retractable canvas roof). It also has a chair in the shape of a boot and lots of real ales.
True about the post office but Tesco is vastly more bearable during the day on weekdays. I mainly work from home and am always surprised by the bustle when I occasionally venture out during normal working hours.
Alec Empire is playing the Islington Academy with Motor (who are excellent) on 19th November. I don't think his solo stuff compares to ATR but his previous solo show reminded me of Brett Anderson on steroids. which was at least entertaining.
Thank you for the suggestions. I'm going to pop into Dragon vet this week. I didn't realise they had cat boarding facilities on site, so this could be very handy. I'm also planning to give Joanne a call - her website looks very good!
I get the impression that there probably isn't anyone left to convince, but I thought I would add my thoughts after my first visit last night. I wouldn't usually dream of eating donner meat but after a sample I was convinced and had a delicious chi…
Bread report: so far I have sampled 2 multigrain loaves, 3 ciabattas and a slice of carrot cake from 'Bakery Outlet'. I'm thrilled to report that they were all very nice and I can now stop buying the horrible 'bread' that Tesco sells.
I just popped in for a loaf but since it was after 2pm they couldn't slice it (they have to go down the road to the bakery to do this). The cakes looked nice and they seem to have fancy breads at reasonable prices.
I haven't actually eaten any o…
I was in Jacks last night to buy booze to accompany my lovely dinner at Jai Krishna. Visitors from out of the area were impressed by the price of wine in there.
Silver Palace off Blackstock Road delivers round here. I find it variable but it's very cheap. Good crispy duck, tofu and chow mein dishes, but the beef is ropey. They do mainly Chinese but also have a Thai section of the menu.
Hello, I fancy local but am open to suggestions too. Somewhere with a garden/balcony is the main criteria. I usually just go to The Noble and sit outside but fancy a change this year and potentially something more like a proper party and less lik…
Does anyone know when it will be opening and if they have any outdoor space (like a garden out back)?
I'm hunting for a potential birthday location for the end of May..
