The freight is probably coming in from Tilbury via Barking.
When i was growing up there was a big hoo-ha about transporting nuclear waste products on the Goblin line in freight trains as well.
---
Edit, there's some old discussion on here about it from 2012, that row was going on 25 (ok 30) years ago, i can still remember my old mum talking about it.
Came back from Brighton with my bike after being too lazy to cycle back, very convenient, would not recommend not booking in advanced though, £30 for a single..
6 of the eventual 25 have already been delivered. Which given how full the depots are probably.means that the first of the ancient 313s, the oldest trains still operating in mainland Britain (antiques aside), are finally heading to the scrap yard. Farewell you rusty heroes. 42 years in service. We salute you.
The GOBLIN Users Group are the worst bunch of paranoid, mean spirited and shrill people. Back when I used to have a handle on these matters I know TfL wouldn't have anything to do with them because of their utterly rude behaviour, and I've seen some of it myself. It undermines their own lobbying efforts, behaving that way.
I think it is the temporary trains that are leased which is why they are handing them back. Bombardier have had to cough up £5m for being late on the new electric train s
Free travel on the Goblin for one month once it's all up and running. Was on BBC news website. No info on whether that is for regular users or for all.

I read it as it was free for all for a month.
