I've been in Tottenham Court Road all day. Lots of police, a handful of nervy shopkeepers and a couple of pre-emptively boarded up shops, but nothing's happened.
One company in our area affected by the riots is Brownswood Recordings, a small record label based on the road of that name. They have the Mercury Nominated Ghostpoet on their rosta. They, like many other indie record labels use the Sony building that was burnt down in Enfield as a warehouse and distribution centre.

Sugar Lounge pre-emptively boarded up.
I noticed that Kebab King and Perfect Chicken both had windows broken but not completely put in. Probably from last night but can't confirm.
hai @harpistic, yes it's me, you found me! I couldn't brave tescos, though thanks for the tip (it's bad enough on a Saturday morning). it's been very quiet tonight, so guess the preventatives worked. proper annoyed that both Sobell and Highbury gyms closed tho.
Hi Charlie! I went just before 6pm, I don't think they've ever been so busy!! (And due to all their special offers, I shall be eating quesadillas for the rest of the month. Hmm).
I was all set to go to Factory sometime today but I've been glued to the news all day, what a waste! I hope you got to do some of the energy-activity "sports" we recommended for Eleanor :)
[The West Londoner](http://thewestlondoner.wordpress.com/) is reporting _Met Police confirms disturbances in Canning Town, Crouch End, Muswell Hill and Highgate._
@jomilne Drat, it never occurred to me that they might close - one of my first thoughts this morning when I was told not to go to work was doing one of their lunchtime classes... if they had any on Tuesdays... they don't. Ah.
I've just walked all the way down Stroud Green Rd, and some of the way along Seven Sisters Rd, and it is quiet and relaxed. Less tense than normal, I'd say.
The disturbance in Canning Town was two bins on fire.

By that standard the Crouch End one is probably two yummies with enormous pushchairs coming to blows over the last loaf of rosemary foccacia in Gail's.
Anyone know what the load 'banging' noise in the distance is?
I can't quite make it out- 'banging' is not quite a perfect description - and I hesitate to ascribe every unfamilliar sound to civil unrest, but can't figure out what it is...

Was in Highgate tonight and very quiet. Quite weirdly so. High Tea was boarded up and a couple of restaurants had shut but OK other than that. Hoping SG is fairing well.
Working latish tonight in [Midtown](http://www.londonnet.co.uk/news/2010/jan/london-plans-new-midtown-zone-between-west-end-and-city.html) (aka _the boring bit in between the West End and the City_) I found central London oddly empty when I left work at 7.30pm. Not exactly deserted, but much, much quieter than usual.
A combination of people getting away to get home, and fewer people going out in central London, I guess.
I just cycled back from Finchley Central through Highgate and down Holloway and it was all quiet.
However turning on to Tollington Park I smelt burning and as I came past the Plough pub I saw 2 fire engines plus a police van on Pine Grove. Not sure what was happening.
Been following The West Londoner all evening. As far as I can tell there have been a few minor disturbances here and there but the police and (where necessary) the fire brigade have been on top of things and nothing has got out of hand.

I would smash a whole row of shop fronts for that.
