That is nearly as bad as loud nail-clipping with the clippings flying into the aisle or onto the person next to them. It's surprising the number of people who do that on the bus.
The W7 is often littered with chicken bones and boxes, sauces, etc. It's usually worse in the evenings when it pulls into FP bus station to start the journey back up the hill.
Another endorsement of Callis (near The Queens). I took a pair of shoes in at 10am last Saturday, they were re-heeled (and cleaned and polished) by 2pm. Very good service.
miss annie, you are lucky your cat doesn't bring you ratty presents. Our cat methodically killed off a whole family of rats from over the road earlier this year, leaving one each morning on the lawn for us to find. One of them was headless.
The Railway Tavern (far end of Crouch End Hill) has started a new quiz night, every Wednesday. We went to the first one last night, the quiz was good and it's a friendly pub. £1 per person entry, winning team takes all. Four rounds of ten questions,…
@barnesbq 'luxury' - yes, I thought the same thing - what constitutes 'luxury'? That word is applied to flats with thin walls, open plan kitchenette, tiny bedroom and a shower-room without a window. Which is not luxurious.
Exciting pigeon poo update!
Yesterday I received an email in reply to my complaint (eight months after I emailed the council). At last some action is being taken! Anyone who wants to complain about the (growing) puddles of pigeon droppings under th…
Two celeb spots last Saturday:
1. The man who plays the old skinny tramp on Shooting Stars (often in the winning team's task at the end) in the park
2. Dr Legg, on the Oxford Road bridge, on the way to the park
Krappy, let me know if you complain, I will support you and I think Tallboy might as well. Although I haven't kept a record of the dates and times.
It's incredibly annoying and inconvenient, it's a gamble whenever I get on the bus in the evening - …
A while ago I went to presentation about the new bus, followed by a tour of the prototype.
One interesting aspect is that there won't be a 'back of the bus' anymore upstairs, because there is a staircase at each end. So no seat across the back, an…
Zumba review:
Great class, good fun, very mixed ability, good teacher, a bit too crowded, room too hot. A mix of dance styles - salsa, colombian, belly dancing, merengue, etc.
I live on the Haringey side, so don't know about Islington's arrangements.
As Siolae says, the problem arises when you don't have any outside space. I used to live in a tiny flat in south London and the ridiculous Borough of Croydon arrangements w…
I had breakfast there this morning. Very good - coffee and food. It's an interesting breakfast menu including cinnamon toast and crepes. The back room is lovely - very light and spacious, not crowded, some art on the exposed brick walls. Service was…
Last night I noticed that the lovely new BBM doesn't have shutters and I was irrationally worried that it would immediately be targeted and have its windows broken. I think that was because most of the shops around it were shuttered and it seemed vu…
Well, I had dinner at the Sugar Lounge on Friday and the food was very good. The meze portions were generous and my favourite dish was the satsuka. The cocktails are very strong - the daquiri was better than the French martini.
Also the service was…
